Adding Lavender To Your Kitchen - Lavender Tea Cookie Recipe

Ahhh Lavender!
Lavender flowers are spike-like flowers composed of multiple, tiny purple florets on a slender, elegant stem. They are valued for their soothing, herbaceous fragrance, their healing properties, their various different uses and their physical beauty. It's one of my favorite flowers, I have two shrubs on the side of my house that keeps on flowering from June - October.I love its scent, when I walk up the path on the side of my house I always walk close enough that I can gently touch the flowers and smell them, a scent that can take me back to some childhood memory of my great grandmother that for her whole life  used lavender perfume. And it was also the flower theme on my wedding .Lavender bouquet, lavender cocktail, lavender on the invitation...a perfect flower for a such occasion, Lavender is a  symbol of magic, love, protection, healing, and vision. It reminds us to believe in the impossible but more than anything it reminds us of the power and beauty of love.
Here is a recipe using lavender flowers for you.

for about 2 dozen cookies
2 sticks of unsalted butter, softened to room-temperature

For the icing
1 cup confectioners sugar, blended with just enough water to achieve a spreadable consistency add zests of a clementine orange and decorate with lavender flowers

How to make it
Using a food processor, mix the sugar and lavender petals together. Transfer the lavender sugar to your blender's bowl add butter and mix  at low speed  with the paddle attachment until smooth. Then add the flour and beat until combined. Mixing is complete when there are no visible lumps of butter in the dough.
Form the dough into a rough disk, wrap it in plastic, and chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Roll the dough into a 1/4-inch thick circle; cut out cookie shapes with a round, 2-inch diameter cutter. Using a flat spatula, transfer the rounds to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake on the middle rack of a preheated 300 degree oven just until the sides of the cookies begin to color about 25 minutes. Let cool completely on the baking sheet.
Decorate with the icing, decorate with lavender petals.Don't worry the icing will get hard

Beat until your mix is smooth

Clementines zests are added to the icing
